I was invited to speak at New Testament Assembly in Tooting London, several weeks ago in March. The topic was on Marriage – Priority Profile. I arrived at the Church and was warmly greeted by Church leaders. I was introduced to Bishop Delroy Powell who too was courteous and friendly and easy to talk to.
The service started with praise and worship after which I was invited to the podium to speak. The congregation was attentive. They listened to every word as I spoke on priority profile in marriage. Nodding their heads in agreement, they applauded and sometimes with a standing ovation. It was such a wonderful feeling to know that what I had to say made such an impact. At the end of the service some of ladies came up to me and thanked me for being so open with my story. They told me that my visit to London had changed their lives. I felt fulfilled, accomplished and happy that I could make an impact on the lives of other people. I was elated to see the lines formed as people purchased my book and waited for my autograph. Thinking how much my book ‘Marriage Heaven’ was going to bless them brought me so much joy.
I returned to New Testament Assembly in the evening for a Q&A session. This time I was not the only one to speak. The congregation asked burning questions for me to answer. I was amazed at their open talk on difficult topics. I later understood that they were transparent because I had been open and candid. They can relate they said, and they felt comfortable asking deep questions on challenging topics. Questions on communication, sex and finances in marriage dominated the Q&A. But the questions on infidelity, divorce and situations where the spouse walked out of the family, were heart wrenching for me. I came to understand even more the pain of a bad marriage. I see how much the work I do in marriage mentoring and teaching is important in upholding the integrity and longevity of marriage.
I left London with a renewed determination and heightened zeal to do God’s plan and purpose for my life. Mentoring couples in how to prepare, beware and repair their marriage is my mission. I will continue to speak to impact marriages which in turn will make a difference in the lives of the future generation.
